Cooperation between Magna and Altran

New Engineering Center in Morocco

The companies Magna and Altran have now jointly opened an engineering center in Morocco. In recent years, Morocco has become increasingly important for automobile manufacturers and is now a competitive production location. The cooperation between the two companies is intended to create a new basis for engineering services in the field of automotive engineering. The participation of both companies is 50 percent.

The cooperation shall bear the name MG2 and will have its headquarters in Casablanca. Here the know-how and the competence shall be bundled. Initially, about 500 engineers will be employed.

Morocco’s location is perfect for the European automotive industry and also provides a good basis for the manufacture of export vehicles. By 2025, Morocco has set itself the target of producing at least one million vehicles every year. “We at Altran are enthusiastic about the cooperation with Magna because we can offer integrated development capacities for design, production and system development in the automotive industry now and thus cover the entire value chain” says Meryem Chami, CEO Altran Morocco.

The cooperation is also a prime example of the dynamism in the engineering service provider sector. In addition, new forms of cooperation are constantly emerging in the industry. For example, Valmet Automotive and battery manufacturer CATL are currently intensifying their cooperation.
