StreetScooter allowed to produce large series
Admissions permit for EU foreign countries
Electrical manufacturer StreetScooter has received permission from the Federal Motor Transport Authority (German KBA) to produce large series. The permit applies to the Work model.
Orders from abroad
For the Work XL model, the manufacturer already has an approval. Vehicles of this series are produced together with car manufacturer Ford in Cologne. With this approval, the Aachen-based company aims to meet international demand as well.
“There is great interest in the StreetScooter from companies with large fleets, tradesmen and municipal companies. Thanks to the large-series approval, even large quantities of vehicles can be approved for fleet orders without any problems, even abroad” says Achim Kampker, CEO of StreetScooter GmbH, delightedly.
StreetScooter can produce 20,000 vehicles annually
With the approval, the e-vehicle manufacturer may not only register the vehicles in other EU countries, but also in Switzerland and Norway. The English milk supplier Milk & More has been using 200 StreetScooter vehicles since mid-2018. In the Netherlands and Austria, the company’s vehicles drive for DHL.
The Federal Motor Transport Authority issues the approval as confirmation that production standards are being adhered to in mass production.
The Aachen-based company opened a second production plant in the neighboring town of Düren in May. This means that 20,000 electric vehicles can roll off the assembly line every year. With the approval, orders from abroad shall be served even faster, Kampker continues.
