Tesla wants to cooperate with Daimler

Musk wants to produce E-Sprinter in cooperation

Tesla lately made a lot of headlines: Production cuts, missed sales targets and job cuts. Now Elon Musk, head of the company, twittered that he could imagine cooperation with the German car manufacturer Daimler. He could think of working together on an E-Sprinter.

Daimler had already launched a new Sprinter series at the beginning of 2018. Electrically driven versions shall be produced next year.

Zetsche does not exclude cooperation with Tesla

It remains questionable, if cooperation is really realistic. The car manufacturer Daimler has not yet issued a statement on a possible cooperation. Via Twitter, the company simply wrote “Thank you for the flowers! And yes, it’s a great van…”.

The current Daimler boss Zetsche sold his Tesla shares for about 780 million dollars in 2014. In an interview with a Polish daily newspaper, Zetsche did not exclude cooperation with the US car manufacturer. He does not regret the sale of the shares, but the door is not closed for cooperation.

Tesla has become a serious competitor for Daimler in the highly competitive market of electric cars and in times of diesel driving bans. It remains to be seen whether both companies will form an alliance with other market participants.
